Glenn Hening started surfing at Sunset when he was barely a kook and though he is still a kook, he is perfectly qualified to judge the contest based on the doo dah surf traditions of shock, awe, humor, and rank insubordination. These qualifications go back to growing up in the shadow of Mickey Dora at State Beach, which took form when he dreamed up the Surfrider Foundation in Santa Monica Canyon, and where he signed the founding papers in August of 1984.
